Sassirto was born in Suvereto, an ancient medieval village in the Upper Maremma in which towers the 16th-century fortress of the Aldobrandeschi family, on the estate's hills from which the view sweeps as far as the island of Elba.
The Suvereto "Col di Noccioli" estate, 55 hectares of land with a very strong wine and olive growing vocation, stretches out on the hills in front of it.
It is made from Sangiovese grapes with the addition of a small amount of Canaiolo.
The stony, bristly soils and the hot, dry climate mitigated by sea breezes give the Sangiovese elegance and ripe tannins. Aging in French oak barrels for 12 months and in the bottle for 6 completes the essence.
