Sassirto is made in Suvereto, in the Upper Maremma, on the estate's hills from which the view sweeps as far as Elba Island. It is made from Sangiovese grapes with the addition of a small amount of Canaiolo. The stony, bristly soils and the hot, dry climate mitigated by sea breezes give the Sangiovese elegance and ripe tannins. Aging in French oak barrels for 12 months and in the bottle for 6 completes the essence.
