The majority of the vines are more than 30 years old. Those that were planted recently came from carefully chosen cuttings from our historic Lugana Trebbiano plants. Attilio Scienza and his team have confirmed that our Trebbiano variety is unique. It would therefore be a great mistake not to carefully check the clones for the new vineyards.
In Lugana di Sirmione my vineyards are spread over an area of 20 hectares. The native Lugana Trebbiano variety reigns supreme over the vineyards; here we can get the most from the vines, thanks to the particular nature of the terroir, made up of layers of clay interspersed with layers of micro-organic sedimentation which is rich in mineral salts.
